Peach House Exterior

We bought this 1900’s beach house last year and we knew the exterior needed to be painted eventually. This fall we finally decided to move forward with the project.

I both wanted to change the color (and eliminate the paint strip that looks like painters’ tape) & protect the wood on the old home.

We are the third house in the row. :)

I guess there was the added benefit of being able to make our street more colorful and not three identical blue houses, which seemed boring in such a colorful little town.

Can you see the wear on the boards?

I debated over doing a shade of pinky coral. I love Young House Love’s shade of pink - but I think if I was going to paint the exterior a shade of pink - I really would pick something like they had already chosen. I was afraid anything pink-like might feel like the colors were too similar or competing.

I mainly looked at Historical & Williamsburg Colors from Benjamin Moore. I love how they can be a guide for an older home to make sure we are selecting something timeless.

I considered Peach, Anderson Blue, Harrisburg Green. I love the color BM Antique Jade - but was afraid it would be too washed out on the exterior.

I also recommend talking to paint professionals to make sure you are selecting a color approved for exteriors and the right sheens. I always love Spectrum paint for their HUGE selection of paints (not just Benjamin Moore) - and expertise.

We finally settled on Garden Path Benjamin Moore. I got to a point where I felt like I had all good choices and it was just a matter of picking one.

Look how much better she looks in the colorful row of houses!

I thought we might repaint the front door - but I love the BM Coral Spice with the Garden Path.

Thank you to Spectrum Paint for gifting me paint for this project! Spectrum Paint is the largest independent paint dealer in the nation with over 100 paint stores in 12 states. The Blacksburg, Virginia location helped me narrow down my selection (Thank you Cathy!!) and then I ordered and picked up paint Virginia Beach location seamlessly.
