Our Library Reveal

This has been a long time coming! This is the room that I always thought had so much potential.

But we didn’t have the time to deal with it so it was the room we just put things in that we didn’t have the time to deal with.

We started work at the end of Summer 2023 and hoped under the carpet we could remove the boards to make the floors flush with our other hardwoods.

This was the case. We took the extra boards off and laid hardwoods by Weaber Lumber. Details on how we did the harlequin pattern are here.

After going through several iterations of the room layout, we landed on a window seat with shelving around it.

The cabinets are stock wooden cabinets from Lowe’s and then Philip built the bookshelves above.

Next - we used the Billy Bookcases we already had as more shelves on the side of the room. Philip made a plan to raise them up to the height of our trim and then to add wood filler and trim to make them look built in.

With wood fillers on the shelf holes and primer and paint - they looked so much better!

Now for the final product!!

I had a seat cushion made here on Etsy & the fabric was Etsy too. Sources below.

Here are the finished Billy Bookcases…
