DIY Frame TV

I have wanted a Frame Tv for awhile, but it’s not in our budget right now. We decided to build one. These are the basics of what we did. If you google DIY frame TV you may find more details, but feel free to ask questions and we can clarify.

Supplies:

  • Corner Clamp

  • Wood Trim you want to use for your frame, ideally with a little bit of a lip that will cover some of the side of the tv.

  • Miter Saw (or use a friend’s :) )

  • 4 flat corner braces

  • Wood Glue

  • Stain (we initially did stain and then decided Rub n Buff looked better)

  • 3m strips

Steps:

  1. Measure the height and width of your tv for your frame pieces. The pieces do not have to fit perfectly because of the overhang of the trim over the edge of the tv, however the parallel sides need to be perfectly identical.

  2. Cut pieces at a 45 degree angle with miter saw. Then we lined up the pieces on the tv to make sure they were done correctly before gluing the frame together.

  3. Glue the frame pieces together and use the corner clamp to secure.

4. While the glue is drying add the flat corner braces.

5. Finish the frame with stain or rub n buff wax.

6. Secure frame to tv with 3M strips. Our tv did not require an adjustments to the frame to connect to the remote, but this maybe something you have to consider.
